How to create and sell your first digital product with AI in 7 days

By George Batchelor · Updated October 31, 2026

Your first digital product doesn't need to be big. It needs to be specific, useful and finished. A tight checklist that solves one problem will sell better than a vague 200-page "ultimate guide" that's never released. Here's a seven-day plan.

What makes a good first product

Day 1: Pick the product

ROLE: You are a digital product strategist.
CONTEXT: My audience is [who]. Their problem is [what]. My experience: [what you know].
TASK: Suggest 10 small digital products I could finish in 3 days.
OUTPUT: Table: product | format | the one result it delivers | why someone would pay. Rank them by how fast they'd deliver a result.

Pick one. If you've done the 24-hour validation, choose the problem real people confirmed.

Day 2: Outline

Ask AI for an outline, then rewrite it in the order you'd actually teach it. Add a "Do this now" action at the end of each section. Cut anything that doesn't move the buyer toward the result.

Day 3–4: Draft and add your expertise

Draft each section with AI using your outline and notes. Then go through and add your own examples, mistakes, numbers you know to be true, screenshots and opinions. That's the difference between a product and generic AI text. Read it out loud once. If a sentence sounds like nobody would say it, rewrite it.

Day 5: Design

Keep it simple: one clean template in Canva, Google Docs or similar, export to PDF, and make a cover image. Consistent fonts and plenty of white space are enough. Check that every link in the PDF works.

Day 6: Build the sales page

Gumroad and similar platforms handle checkout, delivery and receipts. Your product page needs:

  1. A clear title that names the result
  2. Who it's for (and who it isn't for)
  3. What's inside, as specific bullets
  4. A preview image or sample pages
  5. Price, format and refund policy
  6. An honest description, with no income claims you can't back up
ROLE: You are a direct-response copywriter who hates hype.
CONTEXT: Product: [describe]. Buyer: [who]. What's inside: [list].
TASK: Write a product page: headline, 2-sentence intro, "this is for you if", 6 "what's inside" bullets, FAQ with 4 questions.
STANDARDS: Specific, honest, plain English. No income promises, no fake urgency.

How to price it: look at what similar products sell for, and price for the value of the result. You can always run a launch discount instead of starting too low.

Day 7: Launch to real people

After launch

Expect the first week to be quiet. That's normal. Keep publishing one useful thing a week that points back to the product, improve the page based on questions people ask, and update the product when you learn something new.
